Success Story: Amina Khatun

Amina Khatun and her family came to Bangladesh from Myanmar in 2017 and settled in Camp 05. The family had relied heavily on humanitarian assistance and faced difficult living conditions.

Through a baseline survey conducted by Pulse Bangladesh Society, Amina was selected for vegetable cultivation. She completed three days of skill-development training and later received seeds, bamboo, netting, organic compost and other cultivation materials valued at BDT 7,000.

The source reports that Amina is now cultivating vegetables in front of her shelter with support from her husband and son. It states an average monthly income of BDT 1,700 and describes how the additional income helped the family purchase medicine, clothing, and nutritious food.

Case Study: A Story of Self-Reliant Jobaira Begum

Jobaira Begum came to Bangladesh in October 2017 with her husband and son. Her family initially depended entirely on relief assistance.

She was selected as a beneficiary for tailoring and dressmaking, completed three months of tailoring training, and received a sewing machine, tools, initial cloth and other materials valued at approximately BDT 14,000.

The source reports that Jobaira became known in her community as a tailor and began earning an average of BDT 1,200 per month. This income supported purchases of fresh food, medicine and other daily essentials for her family.
