Project Overview
Empowering Citizens for Inclusive Governance, Social Justice and Gender Equality
The goal of the project is to increase voice, participation, representation and leadership of civil society and the community, especially women, youth and members of marginalized communities, in decision-making; enhance capacity to monitor local public services; and prevent and respond to gender-based violence (GBV) and other types of social injustices.
Programme Architecture & Key Activities
At this stage, another phase is not foreseen and is not guaranteed. The partners are therefore committed to mainstreaming systemic approaches and interventions, in view of an exit strategy and to ensure longer-term sustainability.

• Meeting/Workshop/Orientation with Civil Society.
• Sensitization of youth, community leaders and volunteers on gender, democracy, governance and climate issues (“School & College Level Program”).
• Sensitization of key stakeholders (local influential, community/business leaders and family members) on gender equality, GBV and climate issues through edutainment (“Cultural Program”).
• National/International Days Observation (Women’s Day, Youth Day, Elimination of Violence against Women, Anti-Corruption Day and National Legal Aid Day).

Results / Achievement Framework
• Increase of women in decision making in local government institutions, political and civic institutions.
• Increase in satisfaction of constituents (women, men, disadvantaged groups) in the service delivery/inclusiveness of local government services.
• Diverse people, especially women, youth and members of marginalized communities, participate actively in influencing governance institutions and policies at different levels, including public service provision, decision-making and budgets in their localities.
• Local citizens, including women, youth and members of marginalised communities, participate in civil society initiatives.
• Local citizens, especially women, youth and members of marginalised communities, take a leading role and/or proactively take follow-up actions based on civil society initiatives.
• Civil society partnerships, networks and coalitions on governance themes are functional at local and national levels.
• Civil society alliances, especially those led by women, youth and members of marginalised communities.
• Civil society actions on governance themes, including peer-to-peer learning and knowledge-sharing activities.
• Mobilised individuals, especially women, youth and members of marginalised communities, are involved in civil society interactions with Government of Bangladesh at all levels.
• Increased knowledge, communication and facilitation skills on technical governance themes among representatives of civil society entities and community leaders after CEF support.
